Career Development Center

The Career Development Center is a Kentucky Real Estate School that is approved by the Kentucky Real Estate Commission (KREC) and the Kentucky State Board of Proprietary Education.

How many hours do I need to be able to get my real estate license?
The KREC requires attendance to 96 clock hours before you can sit for your real estate exam. We are the only real estate school in Kentucky that offers 60 hours online and 36 hours by webcam.

When can I start?
You may begin your 60 hours online at any time. The webcam classes are offered on Monday and Tuesday evening and Saturday morning and Saturday afternnon. You have up to one year to complete your classes.

How much does it cost to get a Kentucky Real Estate License?
Our tuition, books and review materials are $540.
The exam fee is $100.
The KREC licesne fee will be around $200. (This includes Errors and Omissions Insurance.)
If you place your license with a brokerage that is a REALTOR(R) then you will have Board fees and MLS fees. Please discuss those fees with your principal broker.

Do I have to have a principal broker?

Yes, the KREC requires that you are affiliated with a principal broker, until you get your own broker's licnese. As a school we cannot recommend a brokerage firm.

Are there other requirements?
Yes.  You must...
-- be at least 18 years of age
-- have a high school education, or equivalent
-- complete our 96 hour, KREC approved Real Estate License Class
-- pass the state exam with a score of 75 percent or higher
-- submit a FBI Criminal Background check.

The FBI criminal background check must indicate that there have been no felony convictions at any time or any misdemeanor convictions within the previous five-year period.

Some types of felonies and misdemeanors on your record may prevent someone from getting your license. Please contact the Kentucky Real Estate Commission before taking the class or exam.

What are the technology requirements?
You must have a high speed internet connection and a webcam. We recommend a headset, but it is not mandatory that you have a headset.

You can see and communicate with the instructor via webcam, but only the instructor can see you. The other students cannot see you. Students can hear all questions that are asked. Commuication is also availavble through the chatbox. Its a neat way to learn in the comfort of your own home or office!  People tell me that the time goes by really fast!

I’ve never taken a webcam class. How do I know if it is right for me?You may attend one FREE class to determine if this method of instruction meets your learning style.  Just email or call to register.
