Career Development Center
The Career Development Center is
a Kentucky Real Estate School that is approved by the
Kentucky Real Estate Commission (KREC) and the Kentucky
State Board of Proprietary Education.
How many hours do I need to be able to get my real estate license?
The KREC requires attendance to 96 clock hours before you can sit for your real estate exam. We are the only real estate school in Kentucky that offers 60 hours online and 36 hours by webcam.
When can I start?
You may begin your 60 hours online at any time. The webcam classes are offered during the morning and evenings. See the calendar below.
You have six months from the date of enrollment to complete the 96 hours of classes. This may be extended for free for another six months to complete the course. One additional 6 month extension will be $100.
How much does it cost to get a Kentucky Real Estate License?
Our tuition, books and review materials are $540.
The exam fee is $100.
The KREC licesne fee will be around $200. (This includes Errors and Omissions Insurance.)
If you place your license with a brokerage that is a REALTOR(R) then you will have Board fees and MLS fees. Please discuss those fees with your principal broker.
Do I have to have a principal broker?
Yes, the KREC requires that you
are affiliated with a principal broker, until you get your

-- be at least 18 years of age
-- have a high school education, or equivalent
-- complete our 96 hour, KREC approved Real Estate License Class
-- pass the state exam with a score of 75 percent or higher
-- submit a FBI Criminal Background check.
The FBI criminal background check must indicate that there have been no felony convictions at any time or any misdemeanor convictions within the previous five-year period.
Some types of felonies and misdemeanors on your record may prevent someone from getting your license. Please contact the Kentucky Real Estate Commission before taking the class or exam.
What are the technology requirements?
You must have a high speed internet connection and a webcam. We recommend a headset, but it is not mandatory that you have a headset.
You can see and communicate with the instructor via webcam,
but only the instructor can see you. The other students
can see you. Students can hear all questions that are
asked. Commuication is also availavble through the chatbox.

What is your refund, withdrawal, dismissal and re-entry policy?
You may attend one FREE Real Estate class to determine if this method of instructor works for you. After attening one class, any payment is non-refundable.
When do we go to
lunch and take breaks in the webcam classes?
There is a 10 minute break every 50 minutes.
Morning Classes - Monday through Thursday - 8:30 a.m. to 12:20 p.m.
Evening Classes - Monday through Thursday - 6:30 p.m. to 10:20 p.m.
The morning and evening classes alternate every week.
If you can attend both morning and evening classes you can complete them in two weeks.
If you can only attend morning or evening classes, you can complete them in three weeks.
The Saturday class schedule will end on February
You may complete all your classes on Saturday by that date.
Saturday Morning - 8:30 a.m. to 12:20 p.m.
Saturday Afternoon - 1 p.m. to 4:50 p.m.
There are 8 webcam classes that
are taken at specific times.
On this calendar you will see them as WC 1, WC 2, etc.
You may attend any class when they are offered.
They do NOT have to be taken in numerical order.
The class final is given on Tuesday morning and the following week on Tuesday evening. You must complete the 92 hours of classes and study before you can attend the Class Final.
Who is my instructor?
Joyce Bea Sterling has been a Kentucky real estate instructor since 1986.
She holds the coveted DREI or Distinguished Real Estate Instructor designation.
She’s taught at National Association of REALTORS® Conventions and teaches continuing education classes in both Kentucky and Ohio.
She also teaches the Short Sales Foreclosure Resources, the Generational Housing Specialist, and the Senior Housing Specialist classes and is a graduate of e-Pro.
